Savings and deposits
A passbook the ledger agrees with.
Deposits become a book you can reconcile. Fused keeps no balance column: the balance is the sum of the account's transactions, interest is recomputed from activation on every run, and a fixed deposit's rate never moves once signed.

What it does
Two balances, two dates
Available beside book balance, and a value date beside every posting date. The floor between them is the overdraft limit, else the enforced minimum, else zero.
Progressive interest slabs
Each slab of a tiered rate prices its own slice of the balance. Interest periods follow the financial year, so every account posts on the same days.
Holds, blocks and set-off
A hold reserves an amount, or the whole balance, with a reason and a validity. A block stops debits, credits or both. Set-off against a loan is an act somebody signs, never automatic.
Compulsory savings inside the loan
The upfront amount is kept back inside the loan's own disbursement entry, so nobody has to remember it afterwards. Per-instalment savings are expected, never a debt: no penalty and no PAR.
Dormancy derived, not marked
Dormancy follows from the last customer-initiated activity; interest paid in does not wake an account. A dormant account refuses money leaving, and reactivation goes through the approval flow. The dormancy fee is capped at the balance.
Fixed and recurring deposits
A term with a maturity date and an instruction for it; a rollover keeps the account number. Breaking a deposit early is quoted first, repriced at the tier the run actually reached, less the penalty.
What it refuses
A control is only a control if the system enforces it.
- Fused refuses a withdrawal below the account's floor.
- Fused refuses money leaving a dormant account.
- Fused refuses a hold larger than the available balance.
- Fused refuses a debit on an account blocked for debits.
- Fused refuses a withdrawal from a deposit before it matures.
The rules underneath
The detail your finance and IT teams will ask about.
- Balance
- The sum of the unreversed transactions, computed under the account's row lock. There is no balance column.
- Interest basis
- Daily balance, average daily balance or the period's minimum, over value-dated balances.
- Posting periods
- Monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual, anchored to the financial year; at maturity for a deposit.
- Recompute
- Every run recomputes every period from activation and posts the difference, so a back-valued correction is picked up by itself.
- Crossing zero
- A transaction that takes an account overdrawn splits at zero between the savings liability account and the overdraft asset account.
- Rate changes
- A savings release says whether it reaches new accounts only or every open account. A deposit release reaches new accounts only.
Works with
- Branch counterReceipts and vouchers from gap-free branch series, tills counted by denomination, mirror reversals and bank reconciliation.
- Field collectionsThe centre collection sheet, keyed back in as one batch that must equal the cash the officer counted.
- AccountingA general ledger in which every entry balances or is refused, and no posted entry can be edited.
Savings and deposits: questions
Does a held balance still earn interest?
Yes. A held balance earns the product's rate in full; the hold only reduces what may be drawn.
How is a dormant account woken up?
By a reactivation: an act by a named person, dated today, that goes through the approval flow. Interest the institution pays in does not count as activity.
What happens when a fixed deposit matures?
It follows the instruction it carries: roll over, keeping the account number, or pay out to a linked account. A cash payout waits for a person at the counter, and a matured balance earns nothing until a renewal starts a new term.
Can compulsory savings be taken at disbursement?
Yes. The upfront amount, a figure or a percentage of the approved principal, is kept back inside the disbursement's own entry and held against the loan.
